Yeah, thats right, I'm a GC employee... But i swear I'm not a mean person. Swear.

Okay, so I read a bunch of the complaints on this site and I yes, I work with a couple of people who were named in the complaints. I feel like I should say something... Since this is about what I do for a living...

First off, I understand that sometimes people get into tough situations and are unable to pay their bills... It happens... For everyone who has complained on this site, some of you have legit things to be pissed about. People breaking FDCPA laws, yes, be pissed. People breaking "no call" letters, yes, be pissed. I do not fault you for that... I would be pissed if someone called when I sent them a letter telling them to stop... But here's the thing, you cant get too pissed at someone for doing their jobs... Calling you all the time - legal - depending on your state - calling you at work - legal... Look, we have a very stressful job and trust me, I dont want to call you any more than you want me to call...

Most of the people who work for GC are GOOD PEOPLE with GOOD INTENTIONS! I know because I'm one of them! But there are a few people who do push too hard or can be a bid hard to talk to... The best thing to do when dealing with a person in any collection agency, not just GC is to #1)just TALK TO THEM! We call a lot less when we know that we can get in contact with you and we know your not hiding! #2)set up arangments to pay back the debt - collect activity will stop as soon as you do that. Its very easy to make the phone calls stop... Just show GC that you WANT to pay your bills! #3)If you get someone on the phone who is being rude to you, dont yell at them... trust me, its better to suck it up and request to be transfered to a manager than to piss someone off who has your credit in their hands... Be calm and level headed when talking to them and conduct yourself in a professional way. Stay away from cursing or raising your voice... It gets nowhere...

That was for people who have legit debts (not fraud acnts or wrong # complaints) and who are really TRYING to take care of their responsibilities.

The way I see it, there is nothing that anyone can do to change the way that collections is, and no, we are not customer service... If your a moron on the phone then yes, collections ***... But if you work with your rep, it dosent have to be THAT bad... I have several of my debtors who thank me on a regular basis for working with them... For the most part, people at GC arent that bad, I would say for every 1 bad rep there are 20 good ones. Dont think that were all the same... We try to help... Or at least I do...

I dont know... If anyone would like help in dealing with your specific problem with GC, I would be more than happy to try to give you some advice on how to handle a rep just respond to this and I'll give you my email info.

In most states it is NOT ok to call a a person at work with regards to a debt. Best thing to do is to read the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act as well as your state's Fair Debt Collection Practices act. All of which are available on the web. Don't stand for unfair practices!

So the above comment from "smarter then you". That was hilarious. Its definitely true. People need to understand that business is business, when collectors call, they just want whats owed. nothing more, nothing less. For some reason people feel that's a crazy idea for somebody to want their money back. I guess people feel its a business and they have money. However in most cases especially when its loans involved, that means there investors involved. Therefor the company needs their money so they can pay their bills too. Banks, mortgage companies collection agencies, many of them still have to pay interest on the money they let you borrow whether the debtor pays or not. The best way to handle collections is to write a letter. A professional one that's not written on the back of napkin. Ive been in collections for over 5 years. And I've seen and heard it all. The people who deiced to be irate on the phone are the people that us collectors just gets a good laugh at and keep moving. At the point we don't care what you need cause you don't even know how to call with a professional matter. The people who sends a letter on a post it, Please tell me, how can one take you seriously. Debtors get it together before you start complaining

I just quit GC services. I was a really mean collector and I apologize to you all. Working for GC services is the hardest job I have ever had, dealing with poor managers who get paid about $13-$15/hr and Treat collectors like they are dirt. GC services do not to hire people with experience, so they can mold you into one of them. (People with experience brings new ideas, that they rather not deal with) We are trained to think MONEY on every call... (Even if it’s lying to the defendant-examples: putting them in JAIL) GC services do not train employees properly, for the FDCPA test I was given all the answers by the trainee. Once you pass the test, they put you on the collection floor with your “manager” who previously worked as a supervisor at your local Forever 21 store at the mall, a go-go dancer by night, a drug dealer, a ***...need I say more?-Cindy Portillo, Marlon Shell is two of the big reasons why I've had enough and quit! This is a company where you are micromanaged and treated like a robot. ----You try dealing with being tormented on a daily basis....If you do not make money---you’re fired! You must hit your budget on a daily basis, stressing to have defendants pay, not reasoning with them. There is a reason why we are mean...WE ARE STRESSED!!!

Lots of angry people here, haha. Anyhow, I just had an honest question and seeking an honest answer pertaining to GC Services. I totally forgot about 2 traffic tickets I was cited for last year. It snowballed and now totals $1800 with GC Services. The business I was working for, finally filed for bankruptcy and went under about 3 months ago. Needless to say, we(all employees) were left jobless. I filed and was approved for EDD checks, but am experiencing a lot of inconsistency with receiving a check every 2 weeks. Twice now, they've failed to send me a check and I had to call to resolve any "issues" that appeared more like fumbling on their part. It's worse enough that the checks barely cut it for rent, bills, etc.., so I've been selling a lot of my personal belongings on Ebay. About a week ago, I received a letter from the DMV that stated my license was suspended due to failure to pay collections(GC Services). Between scraping between every nook and cranny in southern California for a job, the EDD's inconsistency that results in huge late fees and life(we all know the extra stresses that come with it, haha), I honest and truly forgot about the money I owed GC Services. I never got anything in the mail for months and I imagine that they probably attempted calling my cell phone, but that was cut off due to my situation. Basically, my question is: is there ANYTHING they GC Services could do for me to get my license back? I have 2 nieces that I pick up EVERYDAY from their schools. I look for jobs literally every single day and some have responded with setting me up on interviews. I need to drive to the grocery store for obvious reasons. So my license is very very very important to me. I'm just in an extremely messed up circumstance right now. Would GC Services be willing to help in any way? Is there anything I can do? Please help. Considering I sought help by this method, shows just how desperate I've become for answers. Please refrain from bashing me. If these questions come across as stupid to anyone, please excuse me for my ignorance. I was just on the internet searching for any honest answers or help. That's all.

For some of these debt collectors that have a good paying job imagine loosing that job tomorrow and being forced to take a lower paying job, thats when it starts you must decide what stays and what goes you keep what is most important and is the most ligitamate to keep. Then try to return of call ur collecters, lein holders, or banks to see what you can do to ease the collection process. when they tell u to make the payment you cant return it and you just cant payfor it and must just let it go back then u can talk to me about these collection companies callin and harrassing people that have been through this like me, had a new home had two new cars had new fourwheelers. worked in the oilfield last winter when it went bottom up went throught all of this and this is where i stand me aND MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER MOVED TO A HOUSE THAT IS OVER 60 YEARS OLD, STARTED REMODELING WITH THE LITTLE MONEY WE HAD JUST HA D ENOUGH TO GET ONE ROOM HELF DONE WHEN WE STARTED A YEAR LATER EVERY ROOM IS USABLE NOW BUT I NO LONGER HAVE FOURWHEELERS, NEW HOUSE, NEW TRUCK , i have managed to keep the car got to have at least one vehicle, but still the bills are almost too much i make about 450 wk and we have 60 dollars after bills and we just have the necesities to make it by and that is before gas, food, entertainment, anything... We barely manage to make it its tough and hard enough on a family in these times to also have a collector calling that is getting nowhere because i have nothing to give him!!! For everyone that has this story or one similar keep your head high i know times are tough but anything else it cant last forever and its always the darkest before the dawn!

8. Written by I called them to pay, they sto, on 17-10-2009 21:07

I had a debt with this agency, two tickets I couldn't pay because I didn't have the money then. I asked my employer to lend me the money to pay this so called collection agency and contacted them to pay my debt.

Rude bastards!. they hanged up the phone several times because they couldn't answer simple questions-I asked, when was my payment clear?- after a week my payment was not processed, I called again, this time they hanged up 3 times, I finally called them again and Mr G. said to send a Western Union payment, I ordered to stop any previous check, I explained my concerned to pay this way, they said it was safe and that it was the fastest way to process my payment. I called them the same day to give them the confirmation number, they said my account was clear and I was happy until later that day when I discovered that my account was charges $500+...

By using information (probably) from my previous arraignments (over the phone) they processed a electronic check I did NOT authorized, that account a 3rd account that was paid a few years back, I think they though I wasn't going to be able to prove them wrong but thank God I retrieved bank records, DVM records and court records that showed I didn't have to pay that amount. I called them to complain and explain their error and they said it can take from 10 to 12 weeks to get my stolen money back..it took them 48 hours to process that fake check..!! but of course I have evidence, so first thing was to contact my bank and have them retrieve my money and then file a formal complain to BBB for their horrible service. To those proud GC Service employees I say, -remember, you will be unemployed at some point in your life and unable to pay your bills, suckers-
