GC SERVICES CAN HELP YOU GET BACK ON TRACK.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
It's really sad that so many of the comments are from students that now believe that gc services is a scam. Not working with gc services will only hurt you, not help your loan situation. The department of education sends your defaulted loans to gs services, this is a legitimate company. Yes, you must make your 9 qualifying payments but you also must send in all of your required paperwork in a timely fashion. Without that paperwork they cannot even verify that you are for sure making the correct payment amount each month. Once all of your paperwork is in your monthly payment may even be lowered depending on what info they get from your paperwork. Without sending all of your paperwork in you are essentially only making a voluntary payment toward your overall loan verses a qualifying payment towards the loan rehabilitation program. Once you send all of your paperwork in, it is your responsibility to call them after a couple of days and verify that they received it all and it is in fact filled out correctly. Faxes fail, even with a confirmation page, that only confirms you sent it, not that they received it, anyone who has used a fax machine for business on a regular basis knows how often they don't go thought correctly. Mail can get lost, delayed or misplaced. Even if you decide to take a picture and email them your agreement letter there is a chance that it will be too blurry to read. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO FOLLOW-UP WITH ANY COMPANY THAT YOU SEND PAPERWORK INTO TO CONFIRM THAT THEY HAVE RECEIVED ALL NEEDED DOCUMENTS. Furthermore, yes, they will ask you to confirm your identity by stating your full address, this is a requirement that was given to them by the dept. of ed. If it was a scam they wouldn't need to ask it everytime, they would take your info the 1st time and run with it. Also a simple Google search can find most people's addresses, if it were a scam they would be asking you for more pertinent information such as your social security number or such. There are a lot of scams out there and one does have to be carefully. However, the real gc services company is a legitimate company that you will only benefit from working with. If you ever have any doubt as to if someone is trying to scam you with your student loans feel free the contract the Department of Education independently and ask them who they have servicing your loans and request that companies phone number from them. Not working with the authorized collection agency will only eventually cause you to have your wages garnished, your income taxes seized and any court rulings or settlements in your favor (a divorce settlement or wrongful termination lawsuit winnings, etc.) taken from you to help pay off your student loans. Be responsible, take the opportunity to get of of default seriously and follow through with all requirements and the program will only benefit you. I hope this helps. I wasn't going to write anything but I truly hated reading all of the misinformation as to how you should handle working with a legitimate collection agency. Best of luck!

Yor full page respond is 100% lies. They are not there to help.

They are 100% profit company. That bought student debt loans, and country wide DMV fines and add high interest rates. Add all types of bogus fees to keep you paying. They don't even deni it.

So stop acting like you know something when your misleading people.

You do not sound intelligent at all! Its obvious you work for them!!

Guest

there are laws collection agencies have to follow through the state and by the clients who hire them. they may have to

make sure they have the correct person on the phone. you wouldn't want them announcing to anyone who picks up

the phone that you're in collections

Guest

If This company is suppose to be helping those with student loans, making it easier & clearing bad credit scores, why won't they tell us who they are, what they do, where they are located, etc? Why do they behave so secretly, even lie about what the name of the company is!?!

They DO SPEAK THREATENLY !! They WON'T ANSWER QUESTIONS & if they do, they are NOT HONEST & it's like pulling teeth!! If they are suppose to be helping people, they are doing a shabby job! And they need to stop calling & harassing people.

. . that's NOT helping people! YES!

It is sad that people with student loans think this company is a scam & that people are NOT using this company's services. . .

However, it is the companies fault for being secretive, deceitful & harasses people instead of send out letters introducing their company & listing the services they offer!

DO YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE?

Do YOU work for the company? Just curious.

Signed: Disgusted!

I work for GC. I don't work in the student load dept., but another one.(CitiBank).

We do send out letters prior to calling people. Surprisingly there's a lot of people who don't check mail.

Sometimes people move and we don't have the current address. But yes, we send out letters announcing who we are.

GC Services -SCAM Business Practices

GC Services on Sept. 12, 2017 debited my bank account in the amount of $1,052.00. I have no idea what this is for. How can a company just go into your bank account without notice or your permission and take your money. Isn't there a law to protect the consumer? I have no ideal what this is for. I have not received, a notice, phone call or Text of any delinquent or outstanding financial obligations. This is unbelievable. I google the company and called, they transferred me twice and disconnected me twice. What does that tell you? Looking for any advice how to manage this. This is a scam and I've asked my bank to reverse the charges.

Very pushy wanting me to tell them all my info, but won't give me any of theirs. I refuse to give ANY INFO UNTIL I hear from them that they want to talk to me! And so far they don't. What ever happened to the statutes of of limitations? Seven years, right? I got people coming after me from 15 years ago. What's up with this? What happens if the creditor makes the deal and then breaks it? But, still comes after you? That is not right!!!! Then they have the audacity to tell me that if I don't pay the full amount, I may as well throw my payment off a bridge for all the good it would do. In other words it would not be credited to my account. So why would I send this *** any money?? How do I know what he is gonna do with it.! I live off SS which is limited and not near enough to live on so I'll keep my money, Thank You very much!

Gc Services - Debt Collection Review

I was in default on my student loans as well. I was enrolled into a 9 month program. I was told that my loans would be out of default after I finished the payments. I paid for 8 months and my last payment didn't go through. But I called the same guy who set me up in the program at least every other day for a month but I got no answer. So, basically all the money that I paid was taken for personal use. I believe this because suddenly I was told that the guy that set me up for the program, was never employed there.

They definitely treat employees like *** I worked there for almost 17 years. When I first started working there, they held back a check.

When I quit last year, they told me they no longer paid the money they kept from me 16 years ago. Also when my department closed, we were given the option to transfer to another department or get unemployment. We were told we couldn't get a package because GC Services had no money. We decide to transfer and we come to find out that the people that didn't transfer were paid 11 weeks and then get unemployment.

Just a bunch of lies. Don't know why I invested so much in a company that could give a rats *** for us.

Fake Officer Tactics

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I had someone call and leave a message that they were and officer and I needed to call. This has happened previously and I had to go to the Police to find out who is calling telling me to send them money and if I don't, I could go to jail .

When I had an Officer call to speak to this so called Officer, the person hung up the phone when the Police Officer asked for the particular person. The Police Officer called back and that person was no where to be found. They leave messages with the person's name, when they get answering machine.

They don't know if it is your number or not. Customer Service SUCKS.

Whoever called you is most likely scammer pretending to work for GC Services. A collection agency would not threaten you that you will go to jail if you do not pay.

Gc Services - Debt Collection Review from Monroe, Oregon

Just got a call, this will be the 6th collector I scare off. Send a letter for debt validation when they send their first dunning letter (with 30 days). Specifically, demand a copy of the negotiated note, a statement 95 cash flow statement, a current balance sheet, a 1099-OID, and a notarized affidavit that all documents are true and correct. They will drop their claim like it is hot, because it is. The 5th time I did this my alleged debt wasn't "sold" again for over a year, now I am on to number 6. You all need to research how debt transfer law works, nobody follows the rules, and nobody pays taxes due when buying a note. If they can't provide these documents the debt is non-existent.

Even if it's within the first 30 days, you can always dispute and request validation of debt, they are required to provide it. Now as to the information you are requesting, remember they are only legally obligated to validate and provide basic information / proof of you taking it out.

Anything else, like cash flow statements, etc. they have no obligation to send to you.

Guest

For federal insured student loans it doesn't matter. They can garnish you up to 15% of each paycheck without having to take you to court and also can take your tax return every year till it's paid.

It is a FEDERAL STUDENT LOAN! And if your receiving ss income they can take that too.

Guest

Would this work after you have signed their paperwork agreeing to pay them?

No... Must be within 30 days of their initial claim.

Gc Services - Review in Collection Agencies category

Had voice mail asking for me to call immediately, it was extremely important. So i called and they said they were gc services (i had no clue who that was) and they needed to verify my address. I told them my address they said that wasnt what was on file and asked if i knew (family member name). I said yes, why? She said it was an "important business matter" and she couldnt discuss it with me. I said then i couldnt pass on the message and hung up. I googled it then and found out it was a collection agency. I figure if you can call my number, ask for me, you can tell me what the calls about.

"figure if you can call my number, ask for me, you can tell me what the calls about"

Yea, legally they can't disclose someones personal business without it being the specific party, otherwise it opens them up to a lawsuit. Don't be so nosy :D

Anonymous

PLEASE MAKE IT STOP

This company keeps calling me, with only a number in the voice mail with some reference number. I call them back and they begin asking me questions I will not answer.

I have no clue who they are, what they keep calling for. At one point, at work, I answered their call and was told it was an outstanding student loan. I know this is inaccurate as I have every single thing I owe to the DOE consolidated in a single loan. Very easy to pay when it is only one and doesn't see as overwhelming.

At any rate, they are relentless and will NOT stop harassing calls. I've called the FDoE and they said they can see everything I owe and it is all included in the consolidation loan. Where do you go from here??? We get so many of these calls anymore, that you cannot tell who is real with a potentially serious claim, or who isn't.

I do not have an outstanding student loan, nor have I ever had a quick cash loan. It just makes me sick to constantly have this *** going on and seemingly no relief from the chase of tracking down anything you can get about a company....about your current PAID FOR ON TIME student loans that are consolidated, or any other claim. Why can't the government take this on as a must do?

These scams are insane. I have gotten no letters from said company, and have no idea if they even truly exist or if this is another fly by night *** shoot to take advantage of people.

Just because your federal are consolidated DOES NOT MEAN YOU DONT HAVE A PRIVATE LOAN. Check your credit. GC Services helped me settle my private loan.

Guest

There are many scammers who falsely use GC Services' name. I wouldn't call them back and I would NOT give them any information!!!

Tell them you have NO outstanding debts, they have the wrong number and to never call you again. You may have to put it in writing, in which case, make sure you send your letter via certified mail so you have proof it was sent.

But again, never give any caller any personal information.

GC does not hav e any college loans. It is a scam.

After they collect your money they tell the dept of ed they will negotiate your loan. They pay maybe 10% pf the loan and keep all your money.

The dept of ed does not have a contract with them. Get out now.

Guest

Guess you didn't use google.

Go to their main home page www.gcserv.com

On that page, top right there is a button that is clearly marked 'Make a Payment'.

As for the calls, did you miss a payment / they didn't receive it? Did you return all your paperwork? Are they missing something from you?

Probably worth calling and clarifying why they are trying to reach you. Might be important.

Guest

this is so true. Fortunately I was able to resolve my dispute but they do suck at customer service.

it's almost like that's their intention. They seem like they don't care about resolving things. I have been able to get my stuff resolved with noooooo help from them. They treat you so bad.

It's almost like they want to hurt your feelings and their goal is to humiliate you and not resolve the issue. I don't know but they're awful. They treat you awful and seem like they were trained to be that way. Thank god I no longer have to deal with them!!!!

GC services sucks!!! Try to avoid dealing with them if you can.

Are you saying that a collection agency is intentionally trying to avoid helping their customers? So, are you saying GC Services is trying to avoid to collecting money?

The purpose of a collection agency is to collect a past due balance. If a customer believes they do not owe a balance and disputes the balance, do you think their employees want to continue calling that customer? I would think a employee would want to help a customer resolve that dispute as quickly as possible.

Because, why would a employee want to continue calling someone who is not going to pay and deal with a customer who is going to keep giving them a hard time about a dispute, like the employee is the reason the customer's account was place into collections. I would think the company would like to move the customer's account out of their office as soon as possible; if there is no chance of collectioning money out of it.

They are avoiding disclosing your personal information to the wrong person. Give your date of birth and find out if you're the right person they are looking for. If you are not and they verify you are not the right person, they will stop calling.

Guest

It's to verify who you are. I work for them and they are doing nothing illegal.

We do not give out personal information that is connected to your social security # until we verify who you are. Everything you do that involves your ss # we have on file.

We have access to everything about you. We use tracking companys that the public is not allowed to view unless they work for a collection agency

You know G O D D A M N well the GCServices name is often used by scam artists, yet here you are on every complaint, in denial. You also know that to call people and demand to know THEIR personal, private details is NOT ALLOWED and is UNETHICAL!

No wonder you work for a collection agency, you can't get any other job!!!!

Get some morals and some viable jobs skills! Lowlife!

Guest

GC Services pays about $9 an hour for their call center people, so yeah, these callers are people who indeed can't get any other job! If they called me, I would go get an air horn and blow as loudly as possible right in the phone.

Another fun thing to do is: they have metrics and are suppose to be making at least 200 calls per day.

So, try to delay them on the phone. Keep them holding while you pretend to get the person they are looking.

Good job on spending time doing research about a company you do not like. For someone who has a "better" job you seem to have a lot of time on your hands.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1245200

If your bills were paid on time, you wouldn't need to worry about debt collectors or what goes on with their jobs. It's an honest living.

If you loaned Joe Blow money, you would want to know where to find him if he wasn't making his payments.

Now who comes out as a lowlife? the person doing their job or the person not fulfilling their obligations.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1245200

Your name and mailing address is public information. If you never tell anyone your name, how are people supposed to address you?

For example, if people are willing a give out their mailing address to company's when they do online shopping, I would think a mailing address is not considered private.

If you receive a phone call from someone saying, "Hi is this (first name, last name)?

What is your social security?" That mostly means that person is lying that they work for that company. A collection agency would not ask your name , social security, and bank information as their introduction.

Just Got A Msg

I just received a msg from a man names Scott Jones claiming to work for "GC Services a debt collection agency". Which is very odd as to the number he called is an unlisted Google Voice number and no ones knows this number unless given out or found on my business site, WHICH, no debt I owe (school) has any affiliation with. Any who, he called me at 8:30PM weird hour to call. I googled the company and came across this site, which, has basically answered all my questions I needed to know. Not a Legit Company

Often times, scammers will use a "legitimate" debt-collectors name as their own, to make you think they are with that company. The fact he is using a google voice number makes me very suspicious.

If you know you don't owe anything, then don't worry about it.

If he calls again and you talk to him, don't give him any information, let him tell you what he is calling about. If he asks you to wire money or buy iphone cards, then you will know with 10001 percent certainty it's a scammer.

GC Services Are Very Annoying

These People Constantly Call Day & Night They Said That They Wanted To Prevent The Garnishment of Wages But By The Next Payday It Was Already Too Late. Now A Month Later After Two Garnishments These People Still Continue To Call Harassing Me. They Call From Different Numbers After I Had 2 Of Their Numbers Blocked From Calling Me. And In The Beginning They Refused To Tell Me Who They Were But I Got It Out of Them. This Company Is The Most Annoying Debt Collectors. Collection agencies are allowed to call from 8am to 9pm your time zone. If you want to stop receiving calls from collection agencies you have three options:

1) Avoid having a past due balance in the first place.

2) When a collection agency calls you the first time, pay the balance.

3) Politely tell the collection agency to remove your number.

Guest

I'm sorry you owe a debt and are annoyed they what you to pay it.

So you got garnished for money you owed and didn't pay back? Yeah they're the crooks.
